Plont
Privacy policy.
Effective [effective date: to be added]. This explains what Plont collects, why, who helps us run it, and the choices you have.
Draft, pending review. This page is a working draft and may change before it takes effect.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a password (stored only as a protected hash by our sign-in provider).
- Your profile: details you give us during setup or in Profile, such as your name, language, units, timezone, experience level, sunlight, whether you have pets, care style, goals and reminder time.
- Your place: a city, and coordinates if you choose “use my location”. We use this to personalise care. You can leave it blank.
- Your plants: the plants you add, their nicknames, rooms and conditions, care history, notes and any photos you choose to save.
- Scan photos: when you scan a plant, the photo is sent to our plant-identification provider so it can suggest a match. We do not keep it unless you save it to a plant.
- Reminders: if you turn them on, your browser’s push-notification address and, for email reminders, your email address.
- Payments: if you subscribe to Premium, card and payment details go to our payment provider, not to us. We keep a customer reference, your subscription status and its renewal and end dates.
- Usage and device data: basic technical data (browser, device, pages used) from our hosting and from session analytics, to keep the service working and improve it.
How we use it
- To run Plont: sign you in, store your plants, schedule and send reminders, and suggest plants from photos.
- To take payment and manage your Premium subscription.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To understand how Plont is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your plant photos to advertise to you.
Who helps us run Plont
We use these providers. Each handles data only to provide its part of the service.
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage (our project runs in South Korea).
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Plant.id (Kindwise): identifies plants from photos you scan.
- Dodo Payments: takes payments and acts as the seller of record for Premium.
- Resend: sends reminder emails and password-reset codes.
- Upstash: short-lived storage used to protect password-reset codes and limit abuse.
- Microsoft Clarity: session analytics that show how screens are used.
- Google Analytics: counts visits and the pages people use.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim: turns coordinates you share into a city name.
Because these services run in different countries, your data may be processed outside India.
Cookies and similar technology
We use cookies that keep you signed in, which the service needs to work. Our analytics provider may also set cookies or similar identifiers to measure how the site is used.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, plants, photos and notes, except what we must keep for legal, tax or security reasons, such as payment records held by our payment provider.
Your choices and rights
- See and correct your profile details in Profile at any time.
- Turn reminders and notifications on or off in Profile.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and data.
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it, for example for location.
To use any of these rights, or to raise a privacy complaint, contact [privacy contact: to be added]. We will reply within a reasonable time and in line with the law that applies to you.
